The Bay of Palma is a large, crescent-shaped bay stretching from the city of Palma eastward to the resort of Arenal. Its most famous beaches are Playa de Palma, a long stretch of fine golden sand lined with hotels, bars, and restaurants, and Cala Major, a smaller cove closer to the city. The bay's calm, shallow waters are ideal for swimming and water sports. The promenade (Passeig Marítim) runs along much of the bay, perfect for cycling or rollerblading. Despite the tourist development, the bay retains natural beauty with views of the Serra de Tramuntana mountains in the distance.

Don't miss

  • Relax on Playa de Palma, the main beach with sunbeds and umbrellas
  • Visit Cala Major for a quieter beach near the city
  • Cycle or walk the promenade from Palma to Arenal
  • Try water sports like paddleboarding, jet skiing, or parasailing
  • Enjoy sunset cocktails at a beachfront chiringuito
