The Benalmádena Stupa, officially known as the Stupa of Enlightenment, is a striking white structure that stands 33 meters tall, making it the largest Buddhist stupa in Europe. Located on a hill in Benalmádena, it was inaugurated by the Dalai Lama in 2003. The stupa is adorned with intricate carvings and paintings depicting Buddhist symbols and teachings. Surrounding the stupa is a serene meditation garden with prayer flags, statues of Buddha, and fragrant plants. Visitors can walk clockwise around the stupa, spin the prayer wheels, and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere. The site offers panoramic views of the Costa del Sol and the Mediterranean. It is a place of pilgrimage for Buddhists and a peaceful retreat for anyone seeking calm and reflection.
