Elogio del Horizonte (Praise of the Horizon) is an iconic landmark of Gijón, created by renowned Basque sculptor Eduardo Chillida in 1990. The massive concrete structure, weighing 500 tons, sits on the Cerro de Santa Catalina, a headland overlooking the Bay of Biscay. The sculpture consists of two sweeping arms that embrace the void, framing the sea and sky. Visitors can walk inside the curved form, experiencing the wind and sound of the waves. It's a contemplative space that blends art with nature, offering panoramic views of the coastline. The site is especially striking at sunset when the concrete glows golden.
