The Dalí Theatre and Museum is a must-visit destination in Figueres, Spain, dedicated entirely to the life and work of Salvador Dalí. Housed in the former Municipal Theatre of Figueres, which was damaged during the Spanish Civil War, the museum was redesigned by Dalí himself and opened in 1974. It contains the largest single collection of his works, spanning paintings, sculptures, installations, and jewelry. Visitors are greeted by the iconic 'Rainy Taxi' outside and step into a world of surrealism, where rooms twist expectations, including the Mae West Room with a face-shaped installation. The museum also features Dalí's crypt, where he is buried. It's a vibrant, whimsical space that reflects Dalí's eccentric genius.

Don't miss

  • The Mae West Room, a three-dimensional installation that appears as the actress's face when viewed from a specific point
  • The 'Rainy Taxi' installation outside, a Cadillac with a rain effect inside
  • Dalí's largest painting, 'The Hallucinogenic Toreador'
  • The Jewel Room, displaying 39 gold and gemstone creations by Dalí
  • Dalí's crypt, located beneath the stage of the former theater
