Plaza del Potro is one of Cordoba's most charming and historically rich squares, located in the heart of the city's old town. The square takes its name from the fountain at its center, which features a small horse (potro) as its crowning ornament, a Renaissance masterpiece dating from the 16th century. Surrounding the plaza are traditional whitewashed buildings, including the iconic Posada del Potro, a former inn mentioned by Cervantes in Don Quixote, which now houses a museum of fine arts. Visitors can sit at one of the outdoor cafés, soak in the lively atmosphere, and admire the blend of architectural styles from different eras. The square is also a hub for local life, with markets and festivals often taking place here.
