The Cáceres Co-cathedral, officially known as the Co-cathedral of Santa María, is a striking example of Gothic-Renaissance architecture located in the heart of the Old Town. Built between the 15th and 16th centuries on the site of a former mosque, its exterior features a robust tower and a beautiful Plateresque portal. Inside, the single nave is lined with chapels containing notable altarpieces and tombs. The main altarpiece, a masterpiece of Flemish painting, depicts scenes from the life of Christ. The church also houses a small museum with religious art and artifacts. Its serene interior offers a peaceful respite from the bustling streets outside. As a co-cathedral, it shares the status of cathedral with the Cathedral of Coria, making it a key religious site in the region.
