Santa Gadea is a Romanesque church in Burgos, famous for its association with the legendary knight El Cid. According to tradition, El Cid forced King Alfonso VI to swear an oath on a cross in this church that he had no part in the murder of his brother, King Sancho II. The church is a fine example of Romanesque architecture, with a sturdy stone exterior and a simple, solemn interior. Visitors can see the cross where the oath was sworn, as well as ancient capitals and a beautiful rose window. The church's location on a hill offers nice views of the surrounding area. It's a must-visit for history buffs and fans of El Cid.
