Sexi was an ancient Phoenician colony that later became a Roman town, now part of modern Almuñécar. The most notable remains are the Roman fish-salting factory (Salinas de Sexi), where garum and salted fish were produced. Visitors can see the vats and channels used in the process, along with other ruins scattered around the town. The site offers a tangible link to the area's ancient maritime economy.
