Deoksugung is a unique palace in central Seoul that combines traditional Korean wooden buildings with Western-style stone structures, reflecting Korea's early modernization period. Originally a residence for Prince Wolsan, it became a royal palace during the Joseon Dynasty. Visitors can explore the main hall, Junghwajeon, with its exquisite throne, and the beautiful Seokjojeon, a neoclassical building that now houses a museum. The palace grounds include a picturesque pond, a garden with ancient trees, and a stone wall path popular for walks. The changing of the royal guard ceremony at the main gate is a colorful spectacle not to be missed. Deoksugung is especially lovely in autumn when the leaves turn vibrant hues.
