The Post Office Tree in Mossel Bay is a famous landmark that served as a mail exchange for passing ships in the 1500s. Sailors would leave letters in a shoe hung on the tree, and homeward-bound vessels would collect them. Today, visitors can see the tree, now a national monument, and drop mail in a nearby post box shaped like a shoe. It stands in the Bartolomeu Dias Museum Complex, offering a tangible link to maritime history.
