The Japanese destroyer Kuroshio is a notable WWII shipwreck lying in the waters near Gizo, a popular site for experienced divers. Sunk in 1943, the wreck rests upright on the seabed, largely intact, with its hull, gun turrets, and propeller visible. Divers can explore the eerie, coral-encrusted structure, which now hosts a variety of marine species. The site provides a poignant glimpse into the Solomon Islands' wartime past, combined with excellent underwater visibility.
Don't miss
- Dive the intact wreck, including gun turrets and propeller
- Observe coral and marine life that now inhabit the ship
- Experience a piece of WWII history firsthand
