The Japanese destroyer Kagerō, a Kagero-class vessel sunk by US aircraft in May 1943, lies in 30–40 meters of water off Gizo. The wreck sits upright on a sandy bottom, offering divers a chance to explore its well-preserved bow, bridge, and stern. Its relatively intact structure, including twin 5-inch gun mounts and torpedo tubes, makes it a popular site for experienced wreck divers. The clear visibility and abundant marine life, such as batfish and coral growth, add to the experience.

Don't miss

  • Explore the intact bow with its 5-inch gun turret
  • Swim through the bridge area, still recognizable
  • Spot depth charges and torpedo tubes on the deck
