The Russian Chapel on Vršič Pass is a poignant wooden structure constructed by Russian prisoners of war between 1916 and 1917. Located at an elevation of 1,011 meters, the chapel commemorates the hundreds of prisoners who died building the pass road. Its simple yet striking architecture features twin bell towers and intricate wood carvings. Visitors often pause here to reflect on history, enjoy the surrounding mountain scenery, and pay respects at the adjacent cemetery. The chapel is a serene stop on the drive over Vršič Pass.
