Savica is a small settlement that serves as the gateway to the famous Savica Waterfall, a 78-meter-high cascade that plunges into a rocky amphitheater. The waterfall is fed by the underground waters of Triglav's mountain lakes, giving it a striking turquoise hue. A well-maintained path leads from the parking area to the waterfall, climbing 553 steps through a forested gorge. The viewing platform offers a close-up perspective of the water's power. The waterfall is particularly impressive in spring when snowmelt swells its flow, and in autumn when the surrounding foliage turns golden.

Don't miss

  • Climb the 553 steps to the viewing platform for an up-close view of the double cascade
  • Photograph the turquoise pool at the base of the waterfall
  • Visit the nearby cheese museum (Planšarski muzej) to learn about local dairy traditions
