Lake Bohinj is a glacial lake nestled in the heart of the Julian Alps, making it a premier destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Unlike its more famous neighbor Lake Bled, Bohinj retains a wilder, more natural character. Visitors can swim in its clear waters, rent rowboats or stand-up paddleboards, or hike along trails that offer panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. The lake is also a gateway to Triglav National Park, with routes leading to the Savica Waterfall and Mount Triglav. In summer, the water warms enough for comfortable swimming, while autumn brings stunning foliage reflections.

Don't miss

  • Swim or paddleboard in the crystal-clear glacial waters
  • Hike the trail to the Savica Waterfall from the lake's western end
  • Rent a rowboat and explore the lake's quiet coves and the Church of St. John the Baptist
