St. Nicholas Church is a Romanian Orthodox landmark in the Șchei district, dating back to the 13th century but rebuilt in the 18th century in a distinctive Brâncovenesc style. The church features a tall bell tower and a richly painted interior with frescoes and a carved iconostasis. It is closely tied to the First Romanian School, as early Romanian scholars and priests served here.
