Zubarah is the remains of a once-thriving pearl fishing and trading town, established in the mid-18th century. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2013, the site features the outlines of streets, houses, mosques, and a protective wall. Visitors can walk among the low stone foundations and imagine the bustling port that connected the Gulf to the Indian Ocean. The site's remote coastal location and interpretive signage provide a vivid glimpse into pre-oil Qatar.

  • Trace the layout of the old town, including the souq, residential quarters, and defensive wall.
  • Visit the small on-site museum with artifacts like imported pottery and glassware.
  • Photograph the stark contrast between the ruins and the surrounding sand and sea.
