Valinhos is a serene hillside just outside Fátima where, according to tradition, the Virgin Mary appeared to the three shepherd children in 1916, before the main apparitions at the Cova da Iria. The site features a small chapel built on the exact spot of the apparition, surrounded by olive trees and a path lined with the Stations of the Cross. Visitors can walk the peaceful route, pray at the chapel, and reflect in the tranquil countryside setting that recalls the children's simple life.
Don't miss
- The small chapel marking the apparition site, with an altar and statue of Our Lady
- The outdoor Stations of the Cross along the wooded path leading up the hill
- The rustic stone benches and viewpoints overlooking the Fátima landscape
