Incredible experience! Amazing food - we had the scallops, tuna steak and duck fried rice, everything was delicious. Good cocktails too
I’ve been in Peru for two weeks trying to find the best food, and who knew that I would find it just a few blocks away from my hotel. Rafael was a revelation, made complete by the incredible service from Ale and Jolu who knew the menu for both cocktails and food like the back of their hand and recommended me the most delicious meal I’ve had in the country. They truly made the experience personal. The art, music, ambiance, and most importantly staff made it feel like home. Chef Giancarlo is one of the best!
Food was ok but they charged us $100 for bread and water which they put in the table and they kept refilling for us. Would not go again because of this. They also adjusted appetizers automatically when we did not want this. You can find better food anywhere else in Lima.
Sadly Rafael is not what we remember from previous times. We haven’t been there since the pandemia and we left very disappointed. A big porcentaje of the offered plates are seafood or fish based, which is very inconvenient for somebody with seafood and food allergy like me. This is not a seafood restaurant as fas as I know so I was very disappointed with the very little alternatives I had to eat. Not 1 single chicken based option. The service was below average, I was never offered a refill in my wine glass, the same with the water. The only one how I can praise is the sommelier who recommended me a very nice red wine to pair the foie gras. Food was ok, we had a tomato salad which was good, foie gras good but really really small and another plate which was good but nothing memorable as it used to be. Desserts were a disaster for us. I ordered something like chocolate and pistacho tart and my husband a banana cheesecake. I never saw or tasted any pistachio in my plate, it was more like a chocolate fondant and my husband had the same experience with his cheesecake, never tasted or found any banana. My dessert was too much chocolate and I left half of it. Too strong, too much chocolate concentrated, I love desserts but this was too much for me. The restaurant didn’t leave any special feeling for us and sadly, after eating there some many times before, we won’t be going back.
