Motupapa Island, also known as Cocked Hat Island, is a striking volcanic rock formation rising from the waters of the Bay of Islands. Its unique hat-like shape makes it a recognizable landmark for sailors and kayakers exploring the outer bay. The island is a protected seabird sanctuary, home to colonies of gulls and shags. Visitors can view it from the water, but landing is not permitted to protect nesting birds.
