Katwoude is a small village in the Waterland region, famous for its cheese farm 'De Groot' where visitors can watch cheese being made and sample fresh products. The village itself is a quiet cluster of houses and farms along a dike, surrounded by the characteristic Dutch landscape of green meadows, canals, and windmills. A visit to Katwoude offers a genuine taste of rural life in the Netherlands. The cheese farm is a highlight, with a shop selling Gouda, Edam, and other local cheeses, as well as farm-made ice cream. Outside, you can see cows in the pastures and perhaps spot a stork. The area is perfect for a short bike ride or walk, with panoramic views of the polders and the distant Markermeer lake.
