Indra Chowk is a historic square in central Kathmandu, named after the Hindu god Indra, and forms part of the old trade route to Tibet. The area is a feast for the senses, with ornately carved wooden windows, pagoda-style temples, and vibrant market stalls selling spices, textiles, and electronics. The square is always lively with locals shopping for daily goods or snacking on Newari delicacies like chatamari and samosas. During the festival of Indra Jatra, the square becomes a focal point for processions and chariot pulls. It's a quintessential Kathmandu experience, blending history with everyday life.
