Inya Lake is the largest lake in Yangon, spanning over 150 acres. It was created by the British in the 19th century as a reservoir. Today, it is a beloved escape from the city's hustle, offering a paved walking and jogging path that circles the water. Locals and tourists alike come to enjoy the cool breeze, watch the sunset, or picnic on the grassy banks. The lake is also home to several landmarks, including the iconic Inya Lake Hotel and the nearby University of Yangon.
Don't miss
- Stroll or jog the 5-kilometer loop around the lake, popular at sunrise and sunset.
- Relax at the lakeside gardens, especially near the southwestern shore.
- Spot the historic Inya Lake Hotel and the landmark 'Karaweik' barge on the eastern side.
