Botataung Pagoda, meaning '1000 military officers,' is an ancient pagoda on the banks of the Yangon River, believed to date back over 2,000 years. Its unique feature is a hollow interior that allows visitors to walk inside the stupa, where glass cases display relics, ancient Buddha images, and artifacts. The pagoda was rebuilt after World War II bombings, but the original relic chamber survived. Visitors can also explore the surrounding complex with smaller shrines and a meditation hall, all while enjoying river breezes.
Don't miss
- Walk inside the hollow stupa to see relics and ancient Buddha images encased in glass
