Kutubiyya Mosque dominates the Marrakesh skyline with its iconic minaret, a masterpiece of Almohad architecture built in the 12th century. The minaret, decorated with intricate geometric patterns and topped with four copper globes, served as a prototype for the Giralda in Seville and Hassan Tower in Rabat. While non-Muslims cannot enter the prayer hall, the surrounding gardens and the view of the minaret from nearby streets are captivating. The mosque's name derives from the Arabic for 'booksellers,' referencing the book market that once flourished nearby.
