Agdal Gardens are a sprawling network of orchards and gardens on the outskirts of Marrakesh, originally laid out in the 12th century by the Almohad dynasty. Covering over 400 hectares, these historic gardens are irrigated by an ancient system of canals and pools, including the large central reservoir. Visitors can wander along shaded paths among olive, orange, and pomegranate trees, enjoying the tranquility and birdlife. The gardens offer a glimpse into Morocco's agricultural heritage and provide a serene setting for a leisurely walk or picnic, away from the medina's crowds.
Don't miss
- The large central pool, reflecting the Atlas Mountains on clear days
- Ancient irrigation channels and water basins still in use
- Peaceful walks through olive and fruit tree groves
