Monaco-Ville, also known as Le Rocher (the Rock), is the historic heart of Monaco perched on a rocky promontory jutting into the Mediterranean. This charming old town is a maze of narrow, winding streets lined with pastel-colored buildings, boutiques, and cafes. At its center stands the Prince's Palace, the official residence of the Grimaldi family, with its changing of the guard ceremony. Nearby is the Monaco Cathedral, a Romanesque-Byzantine structure where Grace Kelly was married and is buried. The neighborhood also houses the Oceanographic Museum, founded by Prince Albert I, which towers over the sea. Visitors can stroll through the Place du Palais, enjoy views from the ramparts, and explore the quiet alleys that retain a medieval atmosphere. The contrast between the ancient buildings and the modern city below is striking.
