Ta' Pinu Basilica, located in the countryside near Xlendi, is one of Malta's most important pilgrimage sites. The shrine's origins date back to a reported Marian apparition in 1883, and it remains a place of deep devotion. Visitors are struck by the basilica's ornate interior, which features intricate marble work and a collection of ex-votos left by pilgrims. The peaceful surroundings and the adjacent chapel where the apparition occurred add to the spiritual atmosphere. Many come to light candles and pray, while others admire the architecture and the panoramic views of the Gozitan landscape.

Don't miss

  • The main altar and the painting of the Assumption, which is the focus of veneration
  • The collection of ex-votos (gifts offered in gratitude) displayed in a side chapel
  • The original chapel where the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared to a local woman
