The Cathedral of the Assumption, located inside the Cittadella in Victoria, is the mother church of Gozo. Built between 1697 and 1711 on the site of a former Roman temple, it features a Baroque façade and a richly decorated interior. The cathedral's most notable feature is its painted wooden ceiling, which depicts scenes from the life of the Virgin Mary. Visitors can also see the bishop's throne and the crypt, which contains the remains of past bishops. The cathedral's elevated position within the Cittadella offers views over Victoria and the surrounding countryside.
