Ġgantija, meaning 'giantess' in Maltese, is a remarkable Neolithic temple complex on the island of Gozo. Dating back to around 3600–2500 BC, it is one of the oldest free-standing structures on Earth, even older than the pyramids of Egypt. The site consists of two temples enclosed within a massive boundary wall, built from enormous limestone blocks. Visitors can walk among the towering stones and marvel at the sophisticated construction techniques of a prehistoric civilization. The visitor center provides context through exhibits and a short film, enhancing the experience of this UNESCO World Heritage site.
