Upper Barrakka Gardens is a peaceful public garden perched on the bastions of Valletta, offering some of the best views of the Grand Harbour. Originally a private garden for the Knights, it was opened to the public in the 19th century. Visitors can stroll along tree-lined paths, admire statues and fountains, and take in sweeping vistas of the harbor, fortifications, and the Three Cities. A daily tradition is the firing of the cannon at noon from the Saluting Battery below. The garden's arcades provide shade, making it a pleasant spot for a break.

Don't miss

  • Panoramic views of the Grand Harbour and the Three Cities
  • The daily noon gun salute from the Saluting Battery
  • The colonnaded terrace and memorials to Maltese patriots
