Fort St. Angelo is a colossal bastion at the tip of Birgu, a sentinel over the Grand Harbour. Visitors walk through centuries of military architecture, from medieval towers to massive gun emplacements. The fort was the Knights' headquarters during the 1565 Great Siege and later served as a British naval base. Today, its ramparts provide sweeping views of the Three Cities and Valletta. Inside, exhibits detail the fort's strategic role, with artifacts from the Knights and World War II. It's a place where Malta's layered history feels tangible.

Don't miss

  • Walk the upper ramparts for 360-degree views of the Grand Harbour and Valletta skyline.
  • Explore the Great Siege exhibits, including original cannon and armor used by the Knights.
  • Descend into the lower levels to see the medieval dungeons and naval storerooms.
