Fort Saint Elmo, a star-shaped fortress at the tip of the Valletta peninsula, played a crucial role in the Great Siege of 1565 and later served as a military stronghold. Today, it houses the National War Museum, which chronicles Malta's military history from the Bronze Age through World War II. Exhibits include original aircraft, medals, and personal artifacts, with a focus on the island's resilience during the Siege of Malta (1940–1942). The fort's ramparts offer panoramic views of the Grand Harbour.
