The Ħal Saflieni Hypogeum is a unique subterranean structure carved into limestone around 4000 BCE. Discovered in 1902, it served as both a sanctuary and a necropolis, with multiple chambers spanning three levels. The site features red ochre paintings, intricate carvings, and a remarkable acoustic chamber. Due to its fragility, only limited visitors are allowed daily, making advance booking essential. The experience is immersive, with a guided audio tour that brings the ancient world to life.
