Traditional Chinese cuisine food since 1948. The foods are excellent to me. I tried the Shark Fin Omelette (桂花翅), lot of crab meats and good aroma. The Sweet Sour pork is crispy externally and soft internally. And the prawn spring roll also crispy hot externally but cold and fresh internally. Price is reasonable but you have to find parking else where and walk here.
One of the local foodie institutions in town, with history stretching more than 70 years. Very old school setting, with it's rustic charms from over half a century. Service is great and food is prepared quiet fast once order is placed. There are many signature dishes which you need to place advanced order of at least 2 days due to the complexity of preparation and cooking style (braising, marination) which just cannot be rushed. The downside, if you have limited diners at the table, you will not be able to try out as many dishes as you would like. Even the smallest plate size is still quite a large portion. Overall, a very satisfying dinner.
Unfortunately for us, they were sold out of the duck when we went. Had some of the other dishes. The spinach and the salted squid were amazing. We also had the prawn basted chicken wings and spare ribs with sauce, which were both just ok for us. They supply tea and water with the meal. Service was good.
Repeated visits for their famous duck dish - the sauce served alongside it is super tasty. Other tasty dishes include the pumpkin tofu. Very homey feeling dining in this restaurant and will be back for more good food.
