Suyab was a major Silk Road trading hub from the 6th to 8th centuries, later abandoned and now an archaeological site. Visitors can walk among the low earthen mounds that mark the former city walls, gates, and a citadel. Though little remains above ground, the scale of the site and its location in the Chüy Valley evoke its historic importance as a crossroads of cultures. Interpretive signs provide context for the ruins.
