Old Square is a historic public space in Bishkek that served as the city's main square during the Soviet era. At its center once stood a prominent statue of Lenin, which was removed after independence. The square is flanked by imposing government buildings, including the White House (the presidential administration). Today, it's a popular gathering spot for locals and a place to reflect on Kyrgyzstan's transition from Soviet rule. Visitors can walk the broad plaza, observe the architecture, and see the empty pedestal that once held the statue.

Don't miss

  • See the former Lenin statue pedestal, now a symbol of Kyrgyzstan's post-Soviet identity.
  • Admire the Soviet-era government buildings, including the White House.
  • Observe local life as the square is a common meeting point for Bishkek residents.
