Located at a prime residential area in Nairobi, this place totally doesn't feel like in Kenya. Quite a secured area because to reach the cafe you have to pass through the security of the entrance where they will ask where you are going to and give directions then another security before entering the building for the scanning of bags. I was quite impressed with the cafe, a very big dining area, both indoors and outdoors, a big area also for the display of the pastries. There were really a lot to choose from and was at a loss and had to ask the staff to recommend. Eventually picked on an almond croissant, a lemon tart and a savoury crepe. Also had a chai latter which I asked for iced but turned out to be hot. All the food I ordered was good, but was quite a lot for one to finish. Enjoyed them a lot and spent some time chilling in the cafe. Not sure if its considered expensive but for me I found it to be quite reasonable. A short Uber ride from the city and definitely worth checking this place out!
Great atmosphere, good service. They have, however, don't accept cash payment, obviously, for some good reasons. So, the mpesa or card payments are easily accepted..
Perfect breakfast! The bread is the best! Staff are so friendly! The sweet sausage was so yummy!!! Definitely going back The pastry section is heavenly
Honestly, I would give Le Grenier 10 stars if only their service matched the quality of their food :-( I've been patronising this cafe since 2020 and usually recommend it to anyone with ears, but if there's something that I've consistently experienced regardless of time of day, number of patrons etc is really shockingly slow service. Plenty of times I've had to get up and go to the counter to place my order because the waiters/waitresses (who are lovely) are huddled talking instead of paying attention to customers. Today was especially disappointing because I was in a hurry and had just enough time for a quick bite in between meetings, but it took ages for a waiter to take my order, then to inform me that they had run out of plain croissants and there was a fresh batch baking in the over that would be ready in a few minutes, then to inform me that the croissants had backfired in the oven and another batch would take another 2 hours to bake. I had to then change my order and still had to chase it up as staff members just stood idly...this is disappointing. Le Grenier has the best pastries I've ever tasted in the world and definitely the best hot chocolate on the continent. If they improve their service standards, they will be the best to ever do it.
