An intriguing space, I’ll give them that. As a big fan of Japanese culture and cuisine, I was eager to spend some time here. But when the food arrived, I was shocked—the portions were so tiny! It felt more like an appetizer; I finished in under two minutes. What really disappointed me, though, was the lack of preparation despite us informing them in advance that we’re vegan. The chef seemed completely unfamiliar with the idea of vegans enjoying Japanese food. Would I return? No. I’ve had much better experiences at other Japanese restaurants in Nairobi. That said, feel free to check out this neo-Japanese spot and decide for yourselves!
Despite the welcoming service as you enter the restaurant, the service felt slow as the staff was limited. The most appetizing part of the meal was the kimchi and pickled cucumber complements of the chef but that was about it. The spicy ramen was not spicy in the slightest and heavily doused in oil. The dumplings as flavorless as the accompanying sauce. The matcha cheesecake was undercooked and tasteless its only saving grace being the dark chocolate drizzle. Some of the meals were almost cold despite long wait times. The chicken katsu was fresh but one had to heavily salt it to get any flavor and the accompanying rice as cold as the restaurant's atmosphere. The menu was limited with over half of it catering to drinks. Overall the only saving grace is the beautiful atmosphere in the restaurant and the welcoming and accommodating staff.
Great food, tasty and delivered with style. The atmosphere was nice and made us feel welcome. We ate the full 3 courses. The signature cocktail was really nice. Especially the main course meet was so delicious in a savory mushroom sauce. And the deserts were perfect ending for the experience. Highly recommend visiting the place.
From the hostess to the Waitstaff, the service was phenomenal. The design of the dishes is creative yet heartwarming. For starters, I had the eel, rice, pumpkin and chamomile mousse. My date had the shrimp tempora roll with avocado. These two dishes were designed to perfection. The flavour profile was absolutely brilliant leaving us impressed and in readiness for the main meal. For main, I had red snapper katsu with passion fruit dashi sauce, asparagus and green beans. My date had tonkatsu ramen, pork chashu, wheat noodles and egg. Brilliantly balanced, our socks were knocked off our feet. And the matcha cheese cake! Oh my! What a dessert! Thank you Maggie, Christine, Rahab and all the staff working dinner service on 10th December 2024. You made our 8th marriage anniversary dinner perfect!
