The Arch of Hadrian was erected in 129–130 AD to commemorate the visit of Emperor Hadrian to Jerash. Standing 21 meters high and 37 meters wide, it originally had three arched passageways, though the side arches have partly collapsed. The arch is richly decorated with acanthus leaves and pilasters, and it served as a ceremonial gateway for those arriving from the south. Today, it greets visitors as they approach the archaeological park, offering a dramatic first impression of the ancient city's grandeur.
