Our party got the Omakase Tempura. I have not seen places offering omakase only in tempura selections so this is very interesting. The food goes from smaller/lighter selections to heavier and more unique offerings. For me, the shark fin tempura was the highlight, very unique texture and very savory. The slightly negative part is the location. If you are using google maps, don’t look at the signs for the building. It can be confusing. The place is located on the 3rd floor in the designated building. I would recommend and treat yourself a tempura course.
First off, for the foreigners. This restaurant is on the 3/F of the building. Great service and amazing food. Very large collection of sake. My favorite pieces were the shark fin, shrimp head, sweet potato and the last shrimp ten don.
Another excellent tempura experience after the one i had in Tokyo (Ten-ichi). Hiraishi serve only tempura omakase with various dishes including shrimp head, scallop (really good), white fish, shiitake, and sweet potato (best i've ever tasted so far). The restaurant only have 7 seat for each serving, give more intimate feeling and although the chef did not speak much English, he always try to explain what is the dishes (include using google translate) and how to eat it best. What i love from the tempura is that the batter is very light, different with the one had in Tokyo. and for some dishes i was being recommended to use only one of the 3 salt provided (normal salt, curry salt and matcha salt). Its been a really great experience, i will come back again when in Osaka
