Ōmiwa Shrine is one of Japan's most ancient Shinto shrines, situated at the base of Mount Miwa in Asuka. Unlike typical shrines, it has no main hall; instead, the entire mountain is considered the sacred object of worship (shintai). Visitors can walk through the serene grounds, pass under towering torii gates, and offer prayers at the worship hall. The shrine is deeply tied to Japan's early mythology and is believed to be the site of the first rice cultivation. Its tranquil atmosphere and historical significance make it a must-visit for those interested in Shinto origins.
