The Sannai-Maruyama Site is one of Japan's most significant Jomon period archaeological sites, spanning about 40 hectares. Visitors can walk among reconstructed pit dwellings, longhouses, and elevated storehouses, gaining insight into the daily life of a prehistoric hunter-gatherer society. The on-site museum displays pottery, stone tools, and clay figurines excavated from the area. The scale of the settlement, which thrived for over 1,500 years, is remarkable and offers a tangible connection to ancient Japan.
