The Persio Flacco Theater is a remarkably well-preserved Roman theater located just outside Volterra's historic center. Built in the 1st century BC, it was discovered in the 1950s and has since been partially restored. The theater could originally seat up to 3,500 spectators and features a semicircular cavea (seating area), an orchestra pit, and a stage with remnants of the scaenae frons (backdrop). Today, it hosts summer performances, including plays, concerts, and opera, offering a unique experience of ancient drama under the stars. Visitors can walk through the ruins, imagine the roar of the crowd, and enjoy views of the surrounding valley. The site also includes the remains of a Roman bath complex nearby.
