Giardini Botanici Villa Taranto is a world-class botanical garden located in Verbania, on the shores of Lake Maggiore. Spanning 16 hectares, it was created in the 1930s by Scottish captain Neil McEacharn, who transformed a swampy area into a lush paradise. The garden is renowned for its vast collection of over 20,000 plant species from around the globe, arranged in thematic sections such as the Japanese garden, water lily pond, and herbaceous borders. Visitors can stroll along winding paths that offer breathtaking views of the lake and mountains. The garden is particularly famous for its seasonal displays, including spring tulips, summer water lilies, and autumn foliage. It's a peaceful retreat that appeals to both gardening enthusiasts and casual nature lovers. The villa itself is not open to the public, but the gardens are the main attraction, with well-maintained trails, benches, and a café. The experience is immersive, with the scent of flowers and the sound of water features enhancing the visit. Distinctive elements include the giant Victoria amazonica water lilies and the collection of rare trees.
