Sasso del Ferro is a prominent peak rising above the town of Laveno-Mombello, on the western shore of Lake Maggiore. The main attraction is the cable car ride that whisks visitors from the lakeside up to the summit in just a few minutes. At the top, a panoramic terrace offers breathtaking 360-degree views of the lake, the Alps, and the surrounding valleys. The area is also a hub for outdoor activities: hiking trails crisscross the mountain, paragliders launch from the slopes, and there's a small café for refreshments. What makes Sasso del Ferro distinctive is its accessibility, you can enjoy alpine vistas without a strenuous hike. You'll see the lake stretching out below, the Borromean Islands dotting the water, and on clear days, the Matterhorn in the distance. The cable car itself is an experience, with glass windows that reveal the landscape unfolding beneath you.
