The Lavagna River flows through the lush valley of the same name, just east of Sestri Levante, carving a green corridor between the Apennines and the sea. Its banks are traced by a flat, gravel path that winds through fields, past old farmhouses, and under the shade of poplars and alders. This is a place for slow exploration: you might see herons standing motionless in the shallows, hear the rustle of lizards in the undergrowth, or catch the scent of wild mint. The river itself is clear and shallow in summer, with pebble beaches where locals sunbathe or dip their feet. The path connects the town of Lavagna (famous for its slate quarries) with the frazione of Cavi, offering a peaceful alternative to the crowded seaside promenades. Unlike the more urban Entella, the Lavagna feels wilder and more remote, though it remains easily accessible. Cyclists and families with children will appreciate the gentle gradient and the absence of traffic.
