The Arch of Augustus in Rimini is the oldest surviving Roman triumphal arch in Italy, erected in 27 BC to honor Emperor Augustus. It marked the terminus of the Via Flaminia, the road connecting Rome to the Adriatic coast. The arch features a single, wide opening flanked by fluted Corinthian columns, with a frieze depicting scenes of sacrifice and victory. Despite its age, the arch stands proudly at the entrance to the historic center, now a traffic island. Visitors can walk around it, examine the detailed carvings, and appreciate its historical significance. It is a must-see for history buffs and a symbol of Rimini's Roman heritage.
