Ravenna Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, is the principal place of worship in the city. The current Baroque structure dates from the 18th century, replacing an earlier 5th-century church. Visitors are drawn to the adjacent Neonian Baptistery, a 5th-century octagonal building with stunning early Christian mosaics depicting the baptism of Christ. Inside the cathedral, the museum houses a collection of sacred art, including ancient manuscripts, vestments, and reliquaries. The serene interior, with its ornate chapels and marble columns, offers a quiet retreat from the bustling city. The cathedral's location in the heart of Ravenna makes it easy to combine with a visit to other nearby UNESCO-listed monuments.
