The Galleria nazionale di Parma is the city's premier art museum, housed within the Palazzo della Pilotta. Its collection focuses on Emilian painting from the 15th to 18th centuries, with standout works by Correggio and Parmigianino, both native to Parma. The gallery also holds Leonardo da Vinci's 'La Scapigliata,' an unfinished portrait of a woman with tousled hair, and works by Canaletto, El Greco, and Tintoretto. The galleries are arranged chronologically, allowing visitors to trace the evolution of style from Gothic to Baroque. The museum is less crowded than major Italian galleries, offering an intimate experience with world-class art.
